A year is a temporary period which lasts for twelve months . The concept can also be used as unit of time to name a certain cycle or course. Calendar , on the other hand, is a term that derives from Latin calendarium and that alludes to system which allows to represent the progress of the days under higher groups such as weeks and months.

The idea of calendar year , in this framework, is associated with the period that begins the day January 1 and ends December 31 . This organization of the weather arises from the call Gregorian calendar , which the Pope promoted Gregory XIII .

A calendar year consists of twelve months. The first is January and then follow February , March , April , may , June , July , August , September , October , November and December , in that order. The 365 days of the calendar year are divided into 30-day months (April, June, September and November) and 31 days (January, March, May, July, August, October and December), February being a particular case since it can have 28 or 29 days In a common year of 365 days, February has 28 days. Instead, when it comes to a leap-year , the month of February has 29 days and the year extends to 366 days. This is due to the need to correct the difference between the calendar year and the tropic year (which is how long the planet takes land in completing its orbit around the sun).

It is interesting to know that not every calendar year is identical to that mentioned. Thus, for example, is the Chinese calendar year that is quite different from the previous one. Specifically, from this Asian we can highlight a series of particularities such as these:
-It also responds to the name of the lunar calendar.
-It is lunisolar and comes to regulate, specifically to order, the days, weeks and months according to the movement made by the Moon. In this way, for example, the days begin and end at midnight while the months begin on the day of the new moon.
-The year is divided into 24 regular periods that correspond to solar seasons.
-Every month has 29.5 days and that results in 354 days a year. However, a leap month is added to the Chinese calendar every three years.

It should not be overlooked either that within the accounting or commercial field, there is another calendar year. Specifically, the commercial year becomes the twelve-month period that ends, as of June 30 or December 31.

A clear example of a different calendar year from the one mentioned above is the one we see in the signing of a contract. Thus, for example, if this document has been signed on March 1, your calendar year will be the one that goes from that date until March 1 of the following year. That is the time in which it will remain in force.
